Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana: Australia's Woodside Energy announced on October 29 that it has signed a 20-year liquefied natural gas sale and purchase agreement with QatarEnergy, to supply LNG from its Louisiana LNG project now under construction.

Under the agreement, deliveries on a free-on-board basis begin when the project's Train 2 starts up, rising to up to 3 million tonnes per year after Train 3 comes online. The Louisiana LNG project has three trains with total capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per year, targets first LNG in 2029, and had an investment value of $17.5 billion as of August. It is the project's second long-term supply agreement, following a deal with Germany's Uniper.

Woodside's chief executive said the agreement brings together Woodside's competitive U.S. LNG project with QatarEnergy, a leading global energy company, marks an important step in building the project's long-term customer base, and strengthens QatarEnergy's global supply and trading portfolio.
