A Halloween 'trunk-or-treat' event outside the NYPD's 83rd Precinct station house in Brooklyn, New York, was struck by a car on October 29, injuring several people; the driver was taken into police custody. A 56-year-old man driving a black sedan lost control, mounted the curb and drove into the event, also hitting a private ambulance standing by at the scene.

Injury counts differ by outlet: the New York Post reported four injured, including a child, while CBS reported six, and medics examined several others at the scene. Police administered a breath test to the driver, and sources said there is currently no indication the crash was a terrorist attack. The scene was left in chaos, with the damaged ambulance and event items scattered at the street corner.
