Follow-Up: Driver Charged With Vehicular Assault in Brooklyn Halloween Crash: BAC 0.26, Six Injured

Six people were injured on Thursday when a van veered onto a sidewalk and plowed into a Halloween event outside a New York City police precinct in Bushwick, Brooklyn, in Kings County, New York. Police said the driver has now been charged with vehicular assault.
Michael Marsh, 56, was driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.26 when his van careened into the middle of a 'Trunk or Treat' event outside the 83rd Precinct stationhouse on Knickerbocker Avenue near Bleecker Street in Bushwick, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.
Six people were struck — a 31-year-old woman and her two daughters, aged 6 and 11, an 8-year-old boy, a 74-year-old woman and a 53-year-old woman — according to the NYPD. All were listed in stable condition. Marsh also struck a private ambulance stationed outside for the event, authorities said.
The Crown Heights resident was also charged with reckless endangerment, three counts related to driving while intoxicated, as well as driving on the sidewalk and driving without a seatbelt, police said. His passenger, a 46-year-old woman, was set to be issued a summons for a traffic infraction. Marsh does not have a recent criminal record in New York City, but racked up three arrests for robberies in 1999 alone, police said.
When the crash happened on October 29, the 83rd Precinct was hosting the Trunk or Treat event for neighbourhood children; several people were injured and the driver was taken into custody at the scene, with early reports differing on the number of victims.
