Penguins Lose 3-4 in Overtime to the Mammoth at Home: Cooley Completes Hat Trick with One Second Left to Tie, Sergachev Wins It in OT

The Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a dramatic comeback loss on the evening of October 29 at PPG Paints Arena, falling 4-3 in overtime to the Utah Mammoth. Mammoth forward Logan Cooley completed his hat trick with just one second left in the third period, batting the puck out of the air backhand to tie the game 3-3 -- his seventh goal of the season -- and Mikhail Sergachev scored on a rebound at 3:27 of overtime to win it.
Nineteen-year-old Penguins forward Ben Kindel had scored a go-ahead goal with 25 seconds left in the third; Kindel, who had a vasovagal syncope episode shortly after the team left Salt Lake City airport on October 20, returned to the lineup and added an assist. Erik Karlsson and Rickard Rakell also scored for Pittsburgh, and Evgeni Malkin had two assists.
