West Virginia Governor Morrisey Announces $17,178,347 in Victims of Crime Act Funding Through 81 Grants Statewide on Oct. 30

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey announced in Charleston, Kanawha County, on October 30 that $17,178,347 in Victims of Crime Act funding will be distributed statewide through 81 grants supporting services for crime victims. Morrisey said no one should face the aftermath of a crime alone, and that the grants will put counselors, advocates and safe shelter within reach of victims across the state and help them understand and exercise their rights in the justice process.
The funds will pay for counseling, emergency shelter, advocacy and transportation for victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, elder abuse and other crimes. The grants are administered by the Justice and Community Services section of the state Department of Administration, with larger individual awards including funding in Huntington.
