Pistons Beat Hornets 97-89 at Home on Oct. 28; Paul Reed a Perfect 5-for-5 from Three as Duren Sits Out
The Detroit Pistons of Wayne County, Michigan, beat the Charlotte Hornets 97-89 at home on the night of Oct. 28, winning the second game of a back-to-back.
Center Paul Reed, starting in place of the injured Jalen Duren, stayed perfect from long range: he made both of his three-point attempts in the game and is 5-for-5 from three through the first five games. He is averaging 14.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, two assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks in 26 minutes per game this season.
Reed said he gets up far more shots in practice than fans see and is confident shooting when left open, while his first priority remains defense and taking what the game gives him. Duren's hamstring injury will sideline him through next week at least, expanding Reed's role; he became the de facto backup center after Isaiah Stewart was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in the offseason.
