Hillsborough Sheriff Arrests Fatal Shooting Suspect in Tampa on Oct. 28; 26-Year-Old Charged with Second-Degree Murder Within 12 Hours

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa, Florida, arrested fatal shooting suspect Nathan Campbell, 26, at a Gibsonton home on Oct. 28, less than 12 hours after the shooting.
At 11:19 p.m. on Oct. 27, deputies responded to the 12000 block of Taliaferro Avenue in Tampa and found Ronnie Sheppard, 29, with upper-body gunshot trauma; he was taken to a local hospital and pronounced deceased. Detectives determined an argument between the two men had escalated into the shooting and identified Campbell as the shooter.
Sheriff Chad Chronister said that in less than 12 hours a homicide suspect was off the streets, calling Campbell a 10-time convicted felon who can no longer victimize the community. Campbell faces charges of second-degree murder with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm. The investigation is ongoing.
