Austin VR Company Virtuix Receives Its 27th U.S. Patent on October 29, Covering Omnidirectional Treadmill Shoe Technology

Austin-based Virtuix Holdings announced on October 29 that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a notice of allowance for its 27th U.S. patent, covering proprietary shoe technology designed to improve movement and traction on omnidirectional treadmills. Virtuix develops artificial intelligence-driven full-body simulation systems; its flagship Omni One platform lets users move naturally in multiple directions inside immersive virtual environments. The platform was named Best VR Interactive Product at the Auggie Awards in 2025 and 2026.
The company said its patent portfolio now includes 27 U.S. patents, with five more applications pending, spanning hardware design, motion tracking, and content integration.
Chief Executive Jan Goetgeluk said the 27th patent underscores the depth of innovation behind the company's platform and strengthens its lead in full-body movement technology. The company said its growing intellectual property position is creating meaningful barriers to entry in a category gaining momentum across gaming, enterprise, healthcare, and military simulation.
