Tampa Announces Its First Free 'Tampa Tinker' Repair Workshop: October 30 at the City Center at Hanna Avenue

The City of Tampa announced on October 29 that it will hold its first 'Tampa Tinker' community repair workshop on October 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City Center at Hanna Avenue.
The free event pairs residents with city technicians to help troubleshoot and attempt repairs on broken household items. Each resident may bring one item, advance registration is required, and repairs are not guaranteed. Participants must be Tampa residents and show photo ID at check-in.
The Tampa Tinker program, launched by the city's Solid Waste Department together with the Logistics and Asset Management Department, aims to help residents extend the life of household items, cut waste, and save money by avoiding new purchases. Tessa Coulter, the city's recycling coordinator, said repair is one of the most impactful ways residents can reduce waste, and that the event gives the community a chance to save money, learn new skills, and keep usable items out of the waste stream. Residents can visit tampa.gov/repair to see eligible items and register for a time slot.
