Boston Celtics Announce Record Donation of More Than $200 Million to Boston Children's Hospital on October 29

The Boston Celtics announced on October 29 that the team, together with the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation and the team's ownership group, will donate more than 200 million dollars to Boston Children's Hospital, a record gift for the hospital. The hospital said the donation will support several pediatric care and research priorities, including building a premier pediatric mental health facility, funding advanced training for pediatric nurses, advancing research into new therapies for childhood diseases, and expanding family-centered programs.
Boston Children's Hospital CEO Dr. Kevin Churchwell said the gift's significance will ultimately be measured not by the record it sets but by the lives it will save. Celtics chairman Bill Chisholm said the Celtics' legacy is defined by more than what happens on the court and that investing in the next generation is the team's commitment. The team will also honor Boston Children's Hospital during its home game against the Chicago Bulls on the night of October 30.
