Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia: Braves Exercise Acuña's $17 Million Option on Oct. 29; Albies Also Stays Through 2027

The Atlanta Braves announced on October 29 that the club has exercised superstar Ronald Acuña Jr.'s option, keeping him in Atlanta for the 2027 season at a $17 million salary, and also exercised infielder Ozzie Albies' option, so both players will stay with the team.
The club also reinstated right-handers Spencer Schwellenbach, Spencer Strider and Hurston Waldrep, along with left-hander Joey Wentz, from the 60-day injured list. Acuña played 107 regular-season games in 2026, batting .255 with 104 hits, 20 home runs and 55 RBIs. The Braves' season ended with a National League Division Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and with the World Series concluded, the free-agent market officially opened on October 29, although the quiet period for clubs to negotiate with their own free agents runs through November 2. The Braves have 11 free agents to address this offseason, and the decisions to keep Acuña and Albies set the core framework for the club's winter moves; both are longtime lineup mainstays, and keeping them helps maintain roster stability.
