Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada: September Unemployment Rate of 4.8% Ranks 328th Among 387 U.S. Metros; 59,310 Jobless, About 20,000 Jobs Added Year Over Year

Data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on October 29 show the unemployment rate in the Las Vegas–Henderson–North Las Vegas metropolitan area was 4.8% in September, unchanged from August but down markedly from 5.7% in September 2025, ranking 328th among the 387 metropolitan areas monitored nationwide — still among the highest unemployment rates in the country. The metro area's civilian labor force was about 1.22 million in September, with 59,310 people unemployed.
Compared with September 2025, the area added about 20,000 jobs, with professional and business services accounting for the largest share at about 11,100 new positions, while casino hotels shed about 700 jobs over the same period. Nevada's statewide unemployment rate fell to 4.7% in September, a decline reported to be partly tied to a lower labor force participation rate. Although Las Vegas's unemployment rate has improved year over year, it remains higher than in most metro areas, reflecting an uneven recovery in a labor market built on tourism and gaming, with professional services growing even as hotel jobs contract.
Labor statistics agencies will continue publishing metropolitan employment data monthly, and the next release will show how the local labor market changed as the fall progressed.
