Utah Political Watch Releases Final 2026 State Senate Race Ratings on October 29: Three Races Rated Competitive as Democrats Lead the Generic Ballot by About 9 Points

Thursday, October 29, 2026 · States · GSM News

Utah Political Watch, a Utah political monitoring organization, on October 29 released its final ratings for Utah's 2026 state Senate races. With Election Day on November 3 less than a week away, ballots are already in voters' hands. The ratings note that in August only one race on the Utah state Senate map was rated competitive, while three races are now in that category, and no rating has moved in the Republicans' direction since the summer. Democrats currently lead by about 9 points on the generic congressional ballot.

The final campaign finance reports, covering through October 22, show two different campaign strategies: because Utah mails out ballots about three weeks before Election Day, the Democratic side increased its spending while voters held their ballots. The ratings organization cautions that the final outcome will still be decided jointly by voters who have already returned ballots and those who vote on Election Day, and that the more competitive races there are, the greater the uncertainty on election night.
