Kansas Governor Kelly Announces Over $10.79 Million in Crime Victim Assistance Grants Reaching 64 Agencies Statewide

Thursday, October 29, 2026 · States · GSM News

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced in Topeka on October 29 that more than $10.7 million in federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Assistance grant funding will be distributed to 64 community-based organizations and agencies across Kansas, with fiscal 2027 awards totaling $10,795,287.

The funding supports crime survivors with services including court advocacy, crisis counseling, mental health support, shelter, transportation and transitional housing. Recipients listed in the announcement include Hope Unlimited in Allen County, which will receive $123,652.

The grants cover community-based service organizations across the state. The state said the money is intended to help victims obtain needed support services rather than fund general law enforcement spending. The governor's office did not publish the full list of all 64 recipient organizations and their individual amounts, only the total and individual examples. The fiscal 2027 awards are funded through the federal program, serve crime victims across Kansas, and recipient organizations will provide services and be administered under program requirements.
