GM Recalls 67,380 Cadillac and Chevrolet EVs: Brake Software Defect May Cause Loss of Braking

General Motors is recalling 67,380 Cadillac and Chevrolet electric vehicles. In a recall record received by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on October 29, the brake system control module (BSCM) software in the affected vehicles contains a defect that may cause a loss of braking during certain driving conditions, increasing the risk of a crash. Vehicle identification numbers became searchable in the NHTSA recall lookup on October 29.

The recall covers certain 2023-2027 Cadillac LYRIQ, 2025-2026 Cadillac CELESTIQ and 2026-2027 Cadillac VISTIQ vehicles, and 2024-2027 Chevrolet Blazer EV vehicles. The NHTSA campaign number is 26V-717 (26V717000), and GM's own recall number is N262570900.

According to the record, the affected component is the antilock, traction control and electronic limited slip control unit or module of the hydraulic service brakes. A loss of braking ability increases the risk of a crash, the record says.

The remedy is a free BSCM software update, delivered through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on December 14, 2026. Owners can check their VIN in the NHTSA recall lookup to confirm whether their vehicle is included.
