Thursday, October 29, 2026 · Justice · GSM News

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee announced that Christian Aaron Atkins, 36, of Grainger County, Tennessee, was sentenced on October 29, 2026, to 113 months' imprisonment by U.S. District Judge Clifton L. Corker in federal court at Greeneville, followed by five years of supervised release. With that sentence, all five members of the methamphetamine trafficking ring have now been sentenced.

Each of the five signed plea agreements and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. According to the plea agreements, the Bean Station Police Department, working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, conducted a lengthy investigation and seized approximately 1,200 grams of methamphetamine, with three search warrants resulting in the additional seizure of approximately 2 pounds of methamphetamine and $4,864 in cash believed to be proceeds of illegal narcotics distribution.

Atkins's four co-conspirators were sentenced earlier this year, each followed by five years of supervised release: Tonya Renee Valentine, 44, received 180 months on June 3, 2026; Donald Eugene Roberts, 48, received 120 months on June 25; Karen E. Carpenter, 48, received 120 months on August 12; and Jacob Adam Parkey, 41, received 126 months on August 19. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew C. Parker.
