Phantom Blade Zero Launches Globally on October 29: Steam Peak Reaches 723,876 Concurrent Players on Day One

Phantom Blade Zero, the wuxia action role-playing game developed by Chinese studio S-GAME, launched globally on October 29 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. According to SteamDB, which tracks Steam's public player data, the game reached a peak of 723,876 concurrent players on Steam on its launch day and topped Steam's global top sellers chart. The figure covers Steam only and does not include players on PlayStation 5 or other PC storefronts.
Phantom Blade Zero is a single-player action game built in Unreal Engine 5. Players take the role of Soul, an assassin who has only 66 days left to live and must hunt down the organization behind his fate. The game blends Chinese wuxia martial arts with steampunk machinery in a style the studio calls "Kungfupunk." It is directed by Soulframe Liang. S-GAME has not published official sales figures for the launch.
The game was first revealed at the PlayStation Showcase in 2023 and was originally scheduled for September 9, 2026, before S-GAME announced a 50-day delay in June for additional polish, moving the launch to October 29. Ahead of launch, the game had surpassed 3 million wishlists, and its Steam page lists a Metacritic score of 88. The standard edition is priced at $59.99 on Steam.
Through its official launch trailer, S-GAME has confirmed that physical PlayStation 5 editions will arrive in 2027 in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions, the last with a collectible steel case, though no month or prices have been announced.
