North Dakota First Lady Invites Handmade Ornaments for the State Christmas Tree: Submissions Due November 23, Lighting on November 29

The Office of the First Lady of North Dakota invited members of the public on October 29 to submit handmade ornaments for the North Dakota State Christmas Tree, which will be displayed in Memorial Hall at the state Capitol starting with a tree lighting ceremony on Sunday, November 29. First Lady Kjersti Armstrong selected “Kindness” as the theme of this year's tree.
Submitted ornaments can range from traditional to contemporary art in any shape or medium; commercially produced items or items made from kits are not eligible. Each ornament should include the maker's name, email address and a brief one- or two-line description, including the art form used and how it was created, such as a class or senior center project.
Ornaments must be received by the Office of Management and Budget no later than November 23, mailed to State of North Dakota, Office of Management and Budget, Julie Strom, 600 E. Boulevard Ave., Bismarck, ND 58505. Submitted ornaments become the property of the Office of the First Lady and may be hung on the state tree in ensuing years.
Gov. Kelly Armstrong and the First Lady invite the public to the annual State Christmas Tree Lighting: the Christmas kickoff at the Capitol begins at 3:00 p.m. on November 29, with the lighting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall, and new activities this year include Northern Lights Reindeer, Grandpa Al's Hayrides, caroling, Copper Dog Hot Chocolate and Christmas cookies. Attendees are encouraged to bring hats and gloves to donate to Missouri Slope Areawide United Way.
