Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced in Frankfort on October 29 that Nissin International Transport U.S.A., a global logistics company specializing in air and ocean freight forwarding, customs brokerage and warehousing, will locate a new distribution center in Franklin County, Kentucky — a $14.3 million investment creating 30 jobs. The facility, at Franklin County Industrial Park 3 off US 60 and Duncan Road in the Frankfort area, will be the company's first operation in Kentucky and will establish its logistics base in the commonwealth, primarily supporting the production activities of Toyota-affiliated suppliers with warehousing, depot storage, unpacking, assembly support, and other value-added logistics services.

"Kentucky's surging economy is powered by our incredible workforce, our key industries, and our business-friendly environment that makes us an ideal location for any company looking to locate a new operation," Beshear said. "I am excited to see 30 new jobs coming to Franklin County and the opportunities they provide for our hard-working Kentuckians and their families."

Nissin International Transport U.S.A. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissin Corporation of Tokyo, Japan, founded in 1938 as a domestic in-harbor transport company. The Nissin Group established U.S. operations in 1973 and now operates a global network of over 400 locations and 200 warehouses in 23 countries, employing more than 2,000 workers. Franklin County Judge/Executive Michael Mueller and Frankfort Mayor Layne Wilkerson both welcomed the project.

To encourage the investment, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) in September preliminarily approved a 10-year incentive agreement under the Kentucky Business Investment program, which can provide up to $500,000 in performance-based tax incentives tied to the company's $14.3 million investment, the creation and maintenance of 30 full-time jobs for Kentucky residents over 10 years, and an average hourly wage of $30 including benefits.
