City of Riverside Earns Three IEDC International Honors: Six International Companies and Over $142 Million in Private Investment in 18 Months
RIVERSIDE, Riverside County, California — The City of Riverside announced on October 29 that it has earned three international honors from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), including a Bronze Award for Economic Development Organization of the Year, a Gold Award for Real Estate Development & Reuse, and a Silver Award for Special Event.
The Gold Award recognizes Farmhouse Collective, which transformed a historic, long-vacant motel into a vibrant marketplace through a public-private partnership. The project supports 15 local vendors, created more than 100 jobs and leveraged more than $2 million in private investment while preserving a historic Riverside property. The Silver Award honors the Aerospace Community Expo, which brought together more than 2,200 students, educators, aerospace companies, military organizations and workforce partners.
The city said the honors reflect a broader transformation of its economic development work: through its Riverside Realized effort, the city welcomed six international companies in just 18 months, generating more than $142 million in private investment and more than 700 quality jobs in the clean and green technology cluster. Earlier this year, Riverside earned IEDC's Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO) designation.
Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson said earning the AEDO designation and now receiving three international awards reinforces what the city is building, with its economic development team competing at the highest level to attract investment and create jobs. Miranda Evans, Community & Economic Development Director, said the department's APEX, BEST and CATALYST teams take a strategic, partnership-driven approach to business attraction, real estate revitalization and workforce development.
The International Economic Development Council is the world's largest membership organization for economic developers, and its annual Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize communities, organizations and initiatives demonstrating innovation, leadership and measurable economic impact.
