Alabama Governor Kay Ivey announced on October 27 that Helix Electric, a California-based electrical contractor, has broken ground on a $45.3 million facility in Hollywood, Jackson County, Alabama, that will create 160 jobs.

The new Advanced Fabrication Campus will manufacture prefabricated electrical components and large modular electrical assemblies, including duct banks, risers, hangers, devices and modular electrical skids, for direct installation on major construction projects.

The company said the plant gives it a manufacturing presence on the East Coast side of the country. Jackson County is a state-designated Target County, and the project aligns with the Alabama Department of Commerce's metals and advanced materials strategy under the ten-year Catalyst plan.

Ivey said Helix Electric's decision shows Alabama's business climate and workforce continue to attract advanced manufacturers.

Helix Electric CEO Boris Shekhter, Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair, TVA Vice President Heidi Smith, State Senator Steve Livingston and Nathan Lee of the Jackson County Economic Development Authority welcomed the project.
