The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) on October 30 released its monthly update to National Transportation Statistics (NTS), a guide to historical national-level transportation trends covering the extent, condition, use, and performance of the transportation network; safety information including accidents, crashes, fatalities, and injuries for each mode; transportation's impact on the economy; and its impact on energy use.

Tables receiving new data this month include system mileage within the United States, stations served by Amtrak and rail transit, ADA lift- or ramp-equipped transit buses, U.S. oil and gas pipeline mileage, numbers of U.S. aircraft, vehicles, and vessels, condition of U.S. highway bridges, average age of urban transit vehicles, U.S. vehicle-miles, average length of haul, U.S. passenger-miles, transportation fatalities by mode, transportation-attributed GDP, transit energy consumption, energy intensity of transit motor buses, and estimated emissions tables.

NTS is a collection of transportation data first published by BTS in November 1971 and has grown to over 200 regularly updated datasets and tables, BTS said.
