Bears' Arlington Heights Stadium District Takes Shape: Bears Retain Naming Rights, Parking Fees Capped, Special Taxing District Approved with Suburban Mayors' Talks

Friday, October 30, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

Local and state negotiations over the Chicago Bears' proposed new stadium in Arlington Heights, Cook County, Illinois, made progress around October 29-30: the Bears would retain naming rights, parking fees would be capped, and a special taxing district would help finance roads, utilities and site work. The team has said most construction costs would be privately financed if infrastructure and tax terms can be settled.

Arlington Heights leaders want jobs and development but not a tax burden on residents, and northwest suburban mayors have been coordinating on traffic, public safety and revenue sharing. The Bears have played at Soldier Field in downtown Chicago since 1971, and if terms are not finalized the team could reopen the downtown option or look across the state line in Indiana.
