King Tides Flood Streets in Jupiter, Florida: Low-Lying and Coastal Neighborhoods in Palm Beach County Face Repeated Flooding Oct. 29-31

King tides this week have flooded streets in Jupiter in northern Palm Beach County, Florida, with the National Weather Service in Miami issuing coastal flood advisories for October 29-31. Water has ponded around the Jupiter Inlet, the Loxahatchee River and along A1A, at times slowing traffic, while most homes remain unaffected.
King tides are predictable astronomical tides that occur several times a year, and sea-level rise has amplified the flooding; the Town of Jupiter has adopted drainage and road-raising plans. Residents are advised to avoid driving through salt water, which corrodes vehicles, and to follow sandbag and advisory updates from the town and county.
