Heat Unveil Revised Dwyane Wade Statue with New Head Outside Kaseya Center in Miami
The Miami Heat on Friday, October 30, released photos of the revised statue of Dwyane Wade outside the Kaseya Center in Miami, describing it as 'a closer look at the enhancements to his statue.' The photos show the statue fitted with a new head, its face markedly different from the previous version.
According to the Miami Herald, the new head was installed on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 27-28. Writing in his column on October 30, Wade said he had heard loud and clear the public's opinions about 'whether it actually looked like me.' Wade, a three-time NBA champion with the Heat and the franchise's greatest player, was heavily involved in creating the statue with artists Oscar León of Rotblatt Amrany Studio and Omri Amrany, and chose the iconic moment it commemorates.
The earlier version drew wide discussion for a face many said bore little resemblance to Wade. The team did not detail changes beyond the head; the revised statue will be on display when the Heat host the Pacers at home on Friday.
