Blazers' Ja Morant to Miss at Least Four Weeks with Grade-Two Hamstring Strain

Friday, October 30, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

The Portland Trail Blazers announced on October 30 that guard Ja Morant has a grade-two strain of his left hamstring and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Morant was hurt on the night of October 29 in Memphis, where he was facing his former team, the Grizzlies, for the first time since joining Portland; he asked out of the game in the fourth quarter, grabbing the back of his leg, and did not return. A grade-two strain is a partial tear. According to tracking data, since the 2005-06 season NBA players with an in-season grade-two hamstring strain have missed about 34.7 days on average.

Morant, 27, spent seven seasons in Memphis before joining the Blazers this year in one of Portland's biggest offseason moves. His absence is a major blow to Portland's backcourt rotation as the team heads out on a road trip and must spread playmaking and scoring duties among its other guards.
