Boise State Welcomes More Than 2,300 New Students From Idaho in Fall 2026, a School Record and Up Nearly 26 Percent Since 2022

In Boise, Ada County, Idaho, Boise State University welcomed more than 2,300 new students from Idaho in fall 2026, the largest incoming class of Idaho residents in school history.
While college enrollment statewide is slipping, Boise State's Idaho freshman class grew nearly 26 percent since 2022, and overall enrollment held steady at nearly 28,500 students. More Idaho high school graduates are choosing to stay in state for college rather than leave.
President David Hahn said the university's goal is to prepare graduates for jobs that strengthen Idaho's economy. The university says the growth gives it more room to deepen partnerships with Idaho employers and align local students' training with the state's workforce needs.
