Nebraska Backup Quarterback Colandrea Announces He Is Staying on October 30: 10 Appearances, 398 Rushing Yards and a Road Win at Rice
In Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, Cornhuskers quarterback Anthony Colandrea has signed a deal to return for his final season of eligibility in 2027, his agent Noah Reisenfeld confirmed on October 30.
Colandrea was the starter at Virginia (2023-24) and UNLV (2025) before landing in Lincoln and leading Nebraska this season. Through seven games he has completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 1,570 yards with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions, with Nebraska at 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten.
Head coach Matt Rhule said earlier this month that SEC schools had been calling in an effort to lure Colandrea back into the transfer portal; the signing settles those rumors for now. Nebraska's 2027 recruiting class includes five-star quarterback Trae Taylor III of Omaha, ranked the No. 1 quarterback in the 247Sports composite. The Huskers host Washington on October 31 looking to snap a two-game losing streak.
