CVS Caremark Agrees to Pay $2.1 Million to Settle Pharmacy Reimbursement Dispute in Oklahoma on October 30

In Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Attorney General Gentner Drummond and Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready jointly announced on October 30 that more than $2.1 million will be distributed to Oklahoma pharmacies. The money comes from a settlement with CVS Caremark concerning prescription reimbursements that were not paid to pharmacies.
The settlement between the state Insurance Department and CVS Caremark was reached in January 2022 over allegations that the company improperly assessed transaction fees against pharmacies in violation of state law. Officials said the $2.1 million represents fines secured through the settlement; restitution for the transaction fees has already been distributed to affected pharmacies. The Attorney General's Office will oversee distribution to more than 900 eligible pharmacies.
This is the third settlement with CVS Caremark, and the Attorney General's Office said the combined settlements have returned more than $7 million to Oklahoma pharmacies. The state did not announce per-pharmacy amounts.
