Pennsylvania Announces 515 New EV Charging Ports Statewide: Federal Funding Fills Gaps Along Major Highways

Friday, October 30, 2026 · States · GSM News

Pennsylvania announced on October 30 a multimillion-dollar investment in public electric vehicle charging infrastructure that will fund 515 new charging ports across five counties as part of the federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program.

The funded counties are Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia, and the new ports are expected to increase the number of publicly accessible chargers in the region by 27 percent. Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll said the Shapiro administration hit the ground running with EV funding, and Delaware Valley residents and travelers will soon have access to more than 500 new chargers in their communities.

The latest awards come under Pennsylvania's NEVI Community Charging program, through which the state is directing more than $100 million in federal funds toward public charging infrastructure in local communities. According to PennDOT, the state now has 54 NEVI-funded charging stations in operation and another 34 in planning or under construction.
