Follow-Up: Wisconsin Measles Cases Near 400 at 392, Barely a Week After Passing 300

In Montello, Marquette County, Wisconsin, the state Department of Health Services reported on October 30 that Wisconsin's measles cases have reached 392 this year, nearing 400, including a new case in Marquette County. Case numbers had surpassed 300 just one week earlier.
The Marquette County case was acquired through out-of-state travel and is not tied to other cases in the state. Most cases remain clustered in Grant, Iowa, and Lafayette counties, where the outbreak began this summer, with others in Vernon, Chippewa, Rock, Richland, Jackson, Marathon, and Marquette counties.
Of Wisconsin's 2026 measles cases, all but three were in people who had not received the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine, which is about 97 percent effective; eight people have required hospitalization. CDC data show more than 4,800 measles cases reported nationally this year, with more than 500 people hospitalized. Residents can check their vaccination status through the Wisconsin Immunization Registry.
