Honolulu, City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii — The Hawaii Law Enforcement Standards Board is seeking law enforcement professionals and members of the public to fill six vacant seats, according to the board's announcement No. 2026-59, issued Oct. 29 and reported Oct. 30. The recruitment aims to strengthen professional standards, accountability and public trust in law enforcement statewide.

The board has 18 members. The six vacancies include a law enforcement officer seat from the City and County of Honolulu, with the remaining seats open to the law enforcement community and the public. Interested applicants may apply online through the Hawaii state boards and commissions website, and the board will review applicants' qualifications.

The announcement stresses that the board's work bears directly on professional standards and public trust across Hawaii's law enforcement agencies, and that including frontline officers and community members is part of its institutional design. Honolulu residents interested in taking part in setting statewide law enforcement standards may apply through the channels in the announcement; appointment timing and procedures will follow the board's later notices.
