Chinese IoT Module Maker Quectel Sues Boca Raton Rival Telit in South Florida Federal Court on October 30, Alleging Smear Campaign Behind Pentagon Listing

Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, Florida — Chinese wireless IoT module manufacturer Quectel sued Boca Raton-based rival Telit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on October 30, accusing it of a disinformation campaign that harmed Quectel's customer relationships and led the Pentagon to add it to a list of companies allegedly aiding China's military.
According to Reuters, Quectel said in its complaint that Telit made and promoted false and misleading claims that Quectel's modules operate in a way that allows manipulation by the Chinese government. Telit IoT Solutions is the named defendant, and Telit had not immediately responded to a request for comment.
Quectel is a leading supplier of Internet of Things modules, and Telit is its competitor in the U.S. market. The Pentagon added Quectel in January 2026 to its list of companies it says work with China's military, and the Defense Department is barred from procuring goods, services or technology from companies on the list.
Quectel sued for commercial disparagement, false advertising, cybersquatting, unfair competition and deceptive and unfair trade practices. The case will be heard in the Southern District of Florida, and further developments in the U.S. litigation involving Chinese companies bear watching.
