SteelFab Announces Columbia Plant: $30 Million Investment, 100 New Jobs at 1030 Metso Way

Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina — Structural steel manufacturer SteelFab announced on October 30 that it will establish operations in Columbia, a $30 million investment expected to create 100 new jobs.
According to Area Development's October 30 report, the new facility at 1030 Metso Way will increase the company's steel fabrication capabilities for the construction industry, serving commercial, industrial, institutional and infrastructure projects.
To support the project, the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits. The state said SteelFab's $30 million investment in Richland County demonstrates South Carolina's business-friendly reputation. Richland County Council Chairwoman Jesica Mackey, who also co-chairs the Columbia Area Development Partnership, welcomed the project.
SteelFab manufactures structural steel products and components for a range of construction projects. The new plant will add local capacity to the Columbia area's construction supply chain; the company and the state commerce department did not further specify the hiring and start-up timetable for the 100 jobs.
