Logan County, West Virginia — Governor Patrick Morrisey has ordered that the United States and West Virginia flags at the State Capitol Complex and at all state facilities in Logan County be flown at half-staff from sunrise on October 30 to sunrise on October 31, in honor of Logan County Sheriff's Deputy Caden R. Mullins, who was killed in the line of duty on October 24.

The Governor's Office issued the order on October 30, saying the lowering is a tribute to Deputy Mullins.

Mullins served with the Logan County Sheriff's Office and died in the line of duty on October 24; the order did not disclose the circumstances of his death.

The half-staff order covers the State Capitol Complex in Charleston and all state facilities in Logan County for a full day. The Governor's Office said the state stands with Logan County law enforcement and Mullins's family, and thanked all officers who keep communities safe on the front line.

Logan County is in southwestern West Virginia, and Mullins's death has deeply grieved the local law enforcement community.
