Operation Last Call Nets About 168 Arrests in Two Months in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · City · GSM News

The San Diego Police Department, in the City of San Diego, San Diego County, California, released results on October 29 for Operation Last Call: since the high-visibility enforcement operation launched in the Gaslamp Quarter on August 28, running on Friday and Saturday nights, it has produced about 168 arrests, 179 citations and the recovery of four firearms.

Police said 21 of the arrests were felony arrests, and traffic enforcement during the operation added 39 citations and five DUI-related arrests. The city paired the enforcement with physical improvements: repainted street and sidewalk markings, increased street sweeping for trash and debris, and designated rideshare pickup zones outside 5th Avenue on Friday and Saturday nights to ease congestion.

Ahead of Halloween weekend, police reminded everyone to celebrate safely and said the zero-tolerance approach to unlawful behavior would be in full effect over the holiday weekend. Officers, residents and businesses have noted improvements in the quarter since the operation began, police said, and the increased presence will continue for as long as it is needed.
