Crimson Desert DLC Charting the Unknown Is Out: Ocean Exploration and Three New Character Storylines, With a Five-Hour Free Trial of the Base Game

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · Games · GSM News

Charting the Unknown, the new downloadable content for Pearl Abyss's open-world action adventure Crimson Desert, launched on October 29 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support, alongside an official launch trailer.

The DLC introduces three new storylines, one each for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane. With the fight for the Greymanes and Pywel behind them, each character sets out to forge their own path, meeting allies and threats old and new along the way.

On the gameplay side, the expansion adds ocean exploration for the first time: players can dive into the sea to explore underwater ruins, treasure chests and new creatures and mounts, and build their own ship to sail the Great Ocean of Pywel. Life in Pywel deepens as well, with romance and marriage options, an upgraded housing system that lets players build a house from the ground up, liberated castles that can be decorated, and stronghold facilities such as restaurants and smithies that can be leased and run.

For combat-focused players, the Garden of Trials offers a boss-rush challenge against the bosses met across Pywel. Alongside the launch, Xbox players can try the base game free for five hours from October 29 into early January 2027 (Xbox Wire gives the trial end as January 7 in its summary and January 6 in the body; the store page controls). The Crimson Desert Enhanced base game is priced at $69.99 and includes the new story moments and expanded voice-over and language support added in August's Version 2.00 update.
