Metro Redux Free Next-Gen Update Is Out: True 4K at 60fps or Upscaled 4K at 120fps
Publisher Deep Silver and developer 4A Games announced on October 29 that the free Metro Redux next-gen update is out now on Xbox Series X|S, upgrading both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux, with an official update trailer released alongside. According to Xbox Wire, the PC update is also available.
On performance, both games can now be played in true 4K at 60fps or in an upscaled 4K mode at 120fps, with support for 4A's TSR upscaling and antialiasing. The visual overhaul reworks textures, lighting and shadows, environmental detail and animation fidelity, with the developers saying each change was tuned to preserve the original games' look and feel.
On platform features, the update adds full support and optimization for the Xbox Ally and Ally X handhelds, Xbox Play Anywhere, and full support for the Xbox controller's Impulse Triggers for tactile feedback.
Based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's novels, the Metro series follows survivors in the Moscow Metro after a nuclear war; more than 50 million players have explored the series since the first game launched in 2010. The Xbox store lists the Metro Redux Bundle at $29.99 with a current sale price of $4.49 (store pricing controls). The next entry, Metro 2039, is scheduled for February 4, 2027.
