China Road and Bridge Issues Statement: Recruitment Ads Charging Fees in the Name of Its Cambodia Funan Techo Project Are Fake

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · World · GSM News

China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) issued a formal statement on the evening of October 31 saying it had received reports from the public that false recruitment information was being spread using its Funan Techo integrated water resources project in Cambodia, with jobseekers allegedly being charged high fees. The company said such conduct seriously harms its brand and lawful rights and may endanger the public's property.

The statement said the false posts circulate under names including the 'Funan Techo Canal Project', the 'Funan Canal' and the 'Cambodia Grand Canal', and that some use company names similar to CRBC's to appear credible. CRBC stated that, as general contractor of the Funan Techo project, it has not authorised any individual, unit or organisation to issue recruitment notices, and has not posted such information on Douyin or other social media; official information is available only through its website, its WeChat account or in-person enquiries.

CRBC urged the public to stay alert and verify information, especially any demand for advance payment. Anyone who has suffered losses from such fraud should preserve evidence and report it to local police immediately. The company said it reserves all legal means to pursue those responsible. The Funan Techo project is a Cambodian national strategic scheme whose roughly 151.6-kilometre waterway links the Mekong river system near Phnom Penh to Cambodia's coast in the southwest.
