Science Minister Yin Hejun Meets Swiss President Parmelin on Deepening the Innovative Strategic Partnership
On October 31, 2026, Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun met in Beijing with Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation and head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research. The two sides exchanged views on deepening the China-Switzerland innovative strategic partnership and advancing practical cooperation in science and technology innovation, China's Ministry of Science and Technology announced the same day.
Yin said 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Switzerland innovative strategic partnership and the opening year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, bringing broad opportunities for innovation cooperation. On October 30, witnessed by the two heads of state, the two sides signed an agreement on cross-border management of scientific data for China-Switzerland joint research activities, providing support for researchers from both countries. China is ready to work with Switzerland to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, strengthen top-level design of cooperation, and promote industry-academia-research collaborative innovation.
Parmelin said China is an important partner of Switzerland, and Switzerland attaches great importance to sci-tech innovation cooperation with China. Switzerland is ready to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation, jointly hold the 10th meeting of the China-Switzerland Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation, and carry out practical cooperation in cross-border data management, joint research and young scientist exchanges.
Vice Minister of Science and Technology Zhang Guangjun, Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland Qian Minjian, Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Education and Research Martina Hirayama, and Swiss Ambassador to China Corinne Cicéron Bühler, among others, attended the meeting.
