Energy Transfer Opens Binding Open Season for Proposed 215-Mile South Mississippi Gas Pipeline

In George County, Mississippi, Energy Transfer Interstate Holdings, an Energy Transfer affiliate, launched a binding open season on October 28 to solicit capacity commitments for the proposed South Mississippi Project, with the solicitation running through November 25.
The project would build an interstate natural gas pipeline of approximately 215 miles from a proposed receipt point in Richland Parish, Louisiana, to a proposed delivery point in the George County, Mississippi, area, using either 42-inch or 36-inch pipe with associated compression and metering facilities. The company said it has secured binding commitments from anchor shippers and, if the project advances, targets service on or before March 1, 2030.
The open season is a commercial-development step only: it is not a final investment decision, a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission certificate, a construction start or a contractor award, and the company has not disclosed a capital budget, engineering package, pipe or compressor suppliers, construction contractor or final route. After evaluating binding bids, the company will decide whether to proceed, and FERC authorization would still be required before construction.
