Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Establishes Allentown, Pennsylvania, Distribution Center: 160,000 Square Feet, 45 Jobs Expected
In Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc. USA has established new distribution operations in Allentown, according to an announcement published October 31. The project is expected to create 45 jobs. The new 160,000-square-foot facility, located on 6.5 acres, will support the distribution of prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
“Glenmark has served U.S. patients for more than two decades, and we continue to invest in the people and capabilities that enable us to serve patients, customers and partners across the country,” said Marc Kikuchi, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals' president and business head for North America. He said the Allentown distribution center is an important part of the company's growing U.S. platform, and that the company chose the Lehigh Valley for its exceptional workforce, strong community, and proximity to customers and its U.S. headquarters.
Glenmark specializes in the research, development, manufacturing and distribution of branded, generic and over-the-counter medicines. Kristin Cahayla-Hoffman, vice president of business development and attraction at the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, said the Lehigh Valley has twice in the past three years been named the number one mid-sized market for economic development, and that those accolades stem from companies such as Glenmark investing there.
