23-Year-Old Driver Dies after Car Hits Interstate 10 Overpass Pillar and Burns in Gadsden County

Gadsden County, Florida — A 23-year-old man from Chattahoochee was killed on October 31 when his sedan left eastbound Interstate 10 near mile marker 178, struck an overpass pillar and burst into flames, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The single-vehicle crash happened at about 11:50 a.m. The car was traveling east when, for an unknown reason, it veered left off the roadway, hit the pillar and caught fire. The driver, the only person in the car, died at the scene.
The patrol said the driver's name was not released in the report, though his next of kin had been notified, and seat-belt use was listed as unknown. Gadsden County EMS, the Sheriff's Office and Fire Rescue assisted troopers at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
