Rhode Island Edges Maine 14-13 in Overtime
Kingston, Washington County, Rhode Island — The University of Rhode Island football team beat the University of Maine 14-13 in overtime on October 31 at home.
Rhode Island took the lead in the second quarter on an 84-yard interception-return defensive touchdown. Maine tied the game in the fourth quarter on a 25-yard rushing touchdown, sending the game to overtime. In overtime, Maine scored first on a 1-yard run, but Rhode Island answered with a 25-yard touchdown pass and the extra point to win by one.
Rhode Island improved to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while Maine fell to 1-8 and 1-5. Maine has its second bye week next and visits No. 25 UAlbany on November 14.
