In Fairfield, Solano County, California, a shooting inside a Spirit Halloween store at the Solano Town Center mall at about 8:30 p.m. on October 30 killed a pregnant woman and wounded six people. The gunman remains at large.
Fairfield police identified the woman killed as Constance Hages, 31, who died at the scene of multiple gunshot wounds. Her family said she was a mother of four and was pregnant when she was killed. The six wounded were all male, aged 16 to 43: a 16-year-old, a 19-year-old man and a 32-year-old man remained hospitalized in critical condition, a 23-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition, and two others were treated and released.
Police said preliminary information pointed to a targeted incident involving a single suspect who fled before officers arrived. The motive remains unclear, and police have not released a confirmed identity or detailed description of the suspect. The FBI's Sacramento field office deployed its evidence response team to assist Fairfield police at the scene.
