Sixth-ranked Notre Dame survived a shaky first half to beat Navy 35-13 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Saturday, improving to 7-1.

Navy led 13-7 late in the first half behind two field goals and a touchdown before running back Nolan James broke a 52-yard touchdown run just before halftime to put the Irish in front. James finished with 107 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. Notre Dame outscored Navy 21-0 in the second half and shut the Midshipmen out after the break, with Jonaz Walton adding a rushing touchdown, James scoring again from 23 yards, and quarterback CJ Carr throwing a final touchdown pass.

Carr completed 19 of 29 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Jerome Bettis Jr. caught six passes for 78 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown reception — the first touchdown catch of his college career.

It was the 99th meeting between the schools; Notre Dame leads the series 85-13-1 and has won nine straight against Navy. Head coach Marcus Freeman recorded his 50th career win. Notre Dame hosts top-ranked Miami next Saturday, November 7, in a game with major playoff implications. According to the South Bend Tribune and other reports.
