Stamkos Burns Former Team Lightning as Predators Win 5-4 in Shootout

Former Tampa Bay captain Steven Stamkos scored the only goal in the fourth round of the shootout as the Nashville Predators rallied to beat the Lightning 5-4 on October 31.
Stamkos had tied the game 4-4 with a power-play goal at 7:27 of the third period before beating Andrei Vasilevskiy with a backhander for the shootout winner. Nashville goaltender Justus Annunen made 22 saves and denied all four Tampa Bay shooters in his first shootout in 83 NHL appearances — a league record — as the Predators won an overtime contest for the first time in six tries this season.
Reid Schaefer scored his first goal for Nashville, with Adam Edstrom and Jayden Struble also scoring. For Tampa Bay, Nikita Kucherov produced three assists a day after asking for a trade, while John Carlson, Jake Guentzel, Victor Hedman and Conor Geekie scored and Vasilevskiy made 29 saves. According to Reuters, it was the first of two meetings between the clubs this season.
