Norris Fastest in Final Mexico City Practice by 0.001 Seconds: Antonelli Needs Only Ninth Place to Clinch the Title

Reigning champion Lando Norris was fastest in final practice for the Mexico City Grand Prix on October 31, lapping the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in 1 minute 17.600 seconds, just 0.001 seconds ahead of Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli.
Antonelli, 20, stands on the verge of his first world title: a finish of ninth or better in Sunday's race would clinch the championship and make him Italy's first Formula One world champion since 1953.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, fastest in both Friday sessions, was third, 0.117 seconds off the pace, with McLaren's Oscar Piastri fourth. Red Bull's four-time champion Max Verstappen, who has a one-place grid drop for Sunday's race, was fifth ahead of Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton.
George Russell, Antonelli's teammate and closest rival, was seventh. Russell trails by 123 points and must win on Sunday to stop Antonelli taking the title in Mexico.
Japan's Ryo Hirakawa, standing in for Esteban Ocon at Haas ahead of his F1 debut at 32, was 19th. Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto and Cadillac's home driver Sergio Perez set no timed laps after power unit changes. (Reporting by Reuters)
