Indiana Edge Minnesota 23-16 in Overtime: Backup QB Strikes on the First Play After a Duel of 60-Yard Field Goals

No. 4 Indiana beat Minnesota 23-16 in overtime on October 31 in Bloomington, surviving a second straight overtime scare to improve to 8-1.
The regulation ending was a kicking duel: Minnesota's Luke Drzewiecki hit a 60-yard field goal that looked set to deliver a road upset, before Indiana's Paddy McAteer answered from 60 yards to tie the game 16-16 and force overtime.
On the first play of the extra period, backup quarterback Grant Wilson — who replaced starter Josh Hoover at halftime — connected with Charlie Becker for a 25-yard touchdown. Indiana's defense then sacked Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey on back-to-back plays to seal the win.
Minnesota had led 10-7 in the first half on Lindsey's 39-yard flea-flicker touchdown to Roman Voss. The season's first College Football Playoff rankings are released on Tuesday. (Reporting by USA Today)
