Louisiana Tech Beat South Alabama 35-20: Second-Half Shutout Makes Five Straight Wins and Bowl Eligibility

Louisiana Tech beat South Alabama 35-20 on October 31 at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, rallying from a 14-7 first-quarter deficit with 21 second-quarter points and shutting out the Jaguars in the second half for a fifth straight win.
Quarterback Blake Baker completed 10 of 16 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, and backup Trey Kukuk threw a 27-yard touchdown to Jalen Mickens on his only pass of the game. Baker's 4-yard touchdown pass to Luke Watkins with 42 seconds left in the third quarter was the only scoring of the second half.
For South Alabama, Jared Hollins went 14 of 31 for 192 yards and two touchdowns, both to Anthony Eager, who caught seven passes for 102 yards; PJ Martin added 82 rushing yards and Keenan Phillips 62, including an 11-yard scoring run. Louisiana Tech improved to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the Sun Belt — the league's only unbeaten team in conference play, two games clear atop the West Division — and reached bowl eligibility for a third straight season. South Alabama fell to 4-4 and 2-2. Louisiana Tech visits Troy next Saturday; South Alabama visits Louisiana-Monroe. (Reporting from The Associated Press)
